Default How to lose weight with Type 1 diabetes?

I am 42 years old, and have had Type 1 diabetes for nearly 20 years. I am always on a diet, and it seems that if I do not almost starve myself I will so easily gain weight. I am a vegetarian and have an extremely healthy diet with lots of veges, some fruit and complex carbs (lots of low gi's). I drink alcohol very rarely and in moderation. AND I go to the gym three times! I do get cross with myself, coz it seems like I do all the right things, and still nothing ever really works. I went to see a dietician, she was happy with my intake...but actually said I needed to be eating more carbohydrate!! Can anyone out there please give me some clues or ideas of other things I could try?

I think it's all about balance, if you starve your body of what it needs, it will hang on to what you give it only. do your diabetes diet correctly and make sure its balanced with fat, carbs, meats, veggies and so on. most type 1 people are thin.
