Default Do you think a cure for type 1 diabetes is close or is there one already that is...

...being hidden? There has been controversial discussion that there is a cure ad that the goverment is covering it up because its a multi-billion dollar industry. What are your thoughts on this?

I've heard this many times over the years. But there's no way it'll happen. And the bottom line is Government conspiracies make good gossip.

Nobody's hiding a cure. Sure the pharmeceutical companies would suffer but no one could successfully bribe their way out of this. Think about it. First of all, no one on earth could afford it. The discoverer would reap millions over a long period of time.

Secondly, the notoriety for such a discovery is irreplacable! The person will go down in history! How long ago was Jonas Salk around? Everyone will always know his name. How do you compensate something like that?? It's impossible.

And lastly, the discoverer of such a cure is surely motivated, be it the suffering of his own family member, or a passion for the disease. Nobody would invest a lifetime of research only to bury it.

Hang in there. We'll get it.

There's been some experimentation, with islet cells. I know there's some sort of study that you can apply to if you want to participate, but apparently itll cure type 1.
