Default What do you do when your "Low" or "High" with Type 1 Diabetes?

I really have been wondering but can't find the right answer. Okay what do you do when your "low"? Are you supposed to rest or like run around? Same with "High"? I know several people with diabetes and i really want to know. Thanks!

When your blood sugar is low the last thing you want to do is run around. Lows are treated with a food/drink that has carbs in it. When a type 1 diabetic has a high blood sugar, they usually treat it with a shot of fast acting insulin (which is the same insulin they take with every meal). Exercise also helps to lower it.

EDIT: in response to Sandy H: Typically a type 1 diabetic recognizes when they're having a low blood sugar and are able to treat it themselves without the help from someone else. If they do collapse from a low, you should give them a shot of glucagon (if they have it) and/or call 911.

Low blood sugar is below 3 and high is over 8mm. If it's low you eat some carbs, and the sugar comes back to normal. If your reading is high ,you have had too much fatty or carbs, and your body can not proses them fast enough. Then it causes damage to your body.

if you know people with diabetes why not ask them?? But my understanding is if the blood sugar gets to low from say not eating then they will sort of shut down and collapse, you can see the physical signs of it if you know the person well, this is when you feed them jelly beans lollies anything sugary, but if it gets to high that is when they will need to use insulin (I think thats how its spelt) but if I were you I would ask my friends with diabetes what I should do if anything happens whilst with them I am sure they will find it reassuring that you want to help if something did happen.

low: drink juice/soda (only like 1/2 cup) or eat smarties candy (some people use "glucose tablets" which are just expensive, glorified smarties)
high: depends on how strict you are with your numbers. mild: just don't eat anything, wait for it to come down, extreme: give yourself a shot right then.
the exercise (run around/rest) that you mentioned doesnt really have much of an immediate effect.

I am type one diabetic. And when your low you need sugar, DO NOT run around when your low. When you are high you have to take insulin...here.
