Default Pregnancy Gestational Diabetes 3 hour test question..why draw blood, instead

of using a glucose meter? Does anyone know why they have to draw your blood, and why they don't just use a glucose meter( the thing diabetics useto check their blood sugar levels)? Or is that an option and I don't know about it? I am 28 weeks pregnant and I just went last week to my doctor to do the 1st glucose test...you know with the drink and waiting an hour for the blood draw thing. Well we just got a call today that I didn't pass and I have to get the 3 hour (4 blood draw) test done now. I don't mind too much its just the last 2 times they drew my blood I had a rediculously large bruse on my arm, that takes like 3 weeks to go away. And I was just seeing how I could avoid 4 more of those.
