HELP ON DIABETES

MONITORING FOR DIABETIC FOOT DISEASE

Your doctor should examine your feet once a year to check for injuries due to diabetes. If you’re at higher risk for foot injury—that is, if you have severe nerve damage (and can’t feel pieces of grit in your shoe), calluses, altered foot shape, a previous foot ulcer, or circulatory problems—regularly see a podiatrist for evaluation, treatment, and education.
