Default What diabetes test should I have if I have numbness and tingling in my hands,...

...feet, ribs and face? If the diabetes test is normal, should I ask for a glucose tolerance test too or should I be satisfied that I don't have diabetes and pursue other causes for my tingling/numbness?

If the fasting blood glucose is normal then you are not diabetic and a GTT would achieve nothing. Diabetes is usually present for a very long time before you get symptoms of numbness/ tingling so it isn't likely to be the cause of your problem. Pursue other avenues...such as neurological reasons for your symptoms.

Why all this self diagnosis??. What makes you think you have diabetes? go see a doctor and he will tell you what tests to have. Is it possible that this is connected to your supposed shingles ,all over large parts of your body?. Go to a good doctor , unless this is some kind of game. Good luck.

Take a fasting glucose test. Ask your doctor for proper testing for the numbness and tingling, (if the test is negative for diabetes.)

a fasting glucose may or may not give you a diagnosis, if you are looking for a diagnosis, ask the doc for the A1C test.

I have a blood disorder that causes my blood to clot too fast. I also have the numbness and tingling in most of my extremities. If you are not diabetic, do be tested for clotting disorders. I am including a link. Good luck to you.
