Default Is diabetes a disease of modern times?

The earliest detailed description of diabetes was made 2000 years ago but it is much more common now than in the past. This is particularly true of Type 2 diabetes, which is becoming very common in some countries such as India. Diabetes in younger people is also becoming more common, and this has been related to increasing affluence and obesity.
