Peripheral Neuropathy is the most common neurological complication related to diabetes. Damage to the microcirculation (capillaries) from high blood sugar leads to nerve damage, causing pain, a burning sensation, or "pins and needles" sensations in the feet and hands.
Good blood sugar control is the only way to combat this very unpleasant condition, because once the damage is done, there is very little that can be done to treat it.
