There are a couple of things you and your mom should read about. One book is called You Are WHat You Eat by Gillian Mc Keith. It is about weight loss but also about eating the right foods to reverse or cut your chances of diabetes. No one wants to be on medication and watching every little thing they eat but you do need to make health choices.

Also read about low glycemic foods.

This website will help you with the minerals you need to boost your body so it works properly and you dont become diabetic.

Also just exercisinig, going for a walk after each meal will automatically lower your blood sugars and allow your pancreas to work properly. You only have one pancreas and you dont want to over do your glucose and insulin production. Prevention of diabetes is easy if you just follow these simple things.

you can google this or ask your doctor. basically you must eat no more than 15-30 grams of carbs for breakfast, 30 for lunch and dinner, 15 for sancks. You also have to eat 2 proteins with ea meal and 1 with snacks. See a dietitian.

Avoid sugar and high amounts of carbohydrates. Eat balanced meals with whole grains at regular times. Losing weight helps control diabetes.
